Curacaodiaspora is the site to find people who are from Curaçao and who are now living in other parts of the world (outside of the Dutch Kingdom).

The term diaspora according to Wikipedia (the free online encyclopedia) means, quote: (in Ancient Greek, διασπορά – "a scattering or sowing of seeds") refers to any people or ethnic population who are forced or induced to leave their traditional homelands, the dispersal of such people, and the ensuing developments in their culture. The current meaning started to develop from this original sense when the Old Testament was translated into Greek, the word "diaspora" there being used to refer to the population of Jews exiled from Judea in 586 BC by the Babylonians, and from Jerusalem in AD 136 by the Roman Empire. Probably the earliest use of the word in reference specifically to Jewish exiles is in the Septuagint version of Deuteronomy 28:25, "thou shalt be a dispersion in all kingdoms of the earth".
Long term expatriates in significant numbers from one particular country may also be referred to as a diaspora. In all cases, the term diaspora carries a sense of displacement; that is, the population so described find themselves for whatever reason separated from their national territory; and usually they have a hope, or at least a desire, to return to their homeland at some point, if the "homeland" still exists in any meaningful sense. Unquote.

Being from Curaçao
People from Curaçao have been moving in the past century mostly for economic and educational reasons. Even though we do not have the correct figures and data we do know that those that left are living and working in almost every corner of the world. This site is to have them documented and to get to know what great things people from Curaçao are doing away from home.
So if you are from Curaçao or if you know someone from Curaçao making history elsewhere in the world please register (them) and be found via our site.
With this information we are documenting the Curaçao history.
We invite you to help us to support us in updating the information on the Curaçao Diaspora. What do you know about people from Curaçao in the world? What was the motivation to move away? Any details that we should pay attention to?

So, let us know where you are if you are from Curaçao. Or if you know someone from Curaçao living and working outside of the Dutch kingdom, please let us know. And we will contact him/her.
Kind regards

Reyna Joe
